Parental Support
Maths Mate Homework Program
- Monitor weekly homework sheets
- (8 per term)
- Discuss test results (2 per term, usually Week 5 and 10) with your child
- Encourage your child to visit www.mathsmate.net to download skill building exercises that improve understanding and mastery of basic numeracy/mathematical skills
- Encourage your child to access the Maths Mate homework sheet answers and problem solving hints and tips in the Learning Centre when they are experiencing difficulties
Mathletics
- Australia’s leading e-learning resource designed to improve Maths results
- Used by over 4000 schools in more than 10 countries
- Usually retails for $99 per student.
- Provided free of charge for all HSHS students
- Visit www.mathletics.com.au/parent and register for free access to the Parent Centre. Here you can view your child’s results and activate a weekly email update on your child’s progress (you will need your child’s username and password)
Class Work
- View the Course Outlines issued each term
- Monitor the assessment dates and assist your child with the development of an assessment calendar showing draft and final due dates
- Assist your child with the development of a study timetable
- Check that homework is being written into the student handbook and completed by the due date
- Encourage your child to ask their teacher for help and/or attend Maths tutorials in SM07/08 on Thursdays from 3pm to 4pm
