It gives the Helensvale SHS community great pleasure to offer scholarships for students wishing to enrol in our school in Year 8 for 2010. Public education has a well founded and high profile in our local area and our feeder primary schools achieve excellent outcomes for their students. The purpose of the Scholarships is to reward and acknowledge the educational achievements of some exceptional Year 7 students and the schools from which they graduate. The Scholarships are part of our existing Academic Curriculum Enhancement program and will be offered in the areas of Academic, Sport and The Arts
Process A) SCHOLARSHIPS A panel consisting of P&C President, Principal, Year 8 Deputy Principal and HOD Middle Schooling will offer the scholarships to students. The panel will take advice from staff representing each of the key areas. The balance and number of scholarships will be the responsibility of the panel. The process upon which the advice will be based is Academic (Exam), Sport (Application and Interview) and The Arts (Audition or Folio). Additional input will be sought from the Primary School from which the student will be graduating and information gathered regarding attitude, extra curricula activities and private achievements. B) EXCELLENCE PROGRAMMES Students are to submit a separate Application Form for each program they are applying for. Students are selected on one or all of the following: Interview, Audition, School Reports, Folio of work, Primary School recommendation and other relevant materials.
